I now release the 2020 edition, based on active scientists and researchers in the Greater Copenhagen\/\u00d8resund region. A separate index for <a href=\"http:\/\/mikeyoungacademy.dk\/scientists-in-denmark-the-top-100-on-social-media\/\">Denmark is here<\/a>. Since I launched the index in 2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/cbswire.dk\/researchers-we-waste-time-and-money-writing-articles-no-one-cares-to-read\/\">it has been reviewed in several publications like here in CBS Wire.<\/a> Some in the research community point to its usefulness as one of many measures of researcher success that supplement bibliometric scores, citations, and educational activities.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3846\" style=\"width: 505px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3846\" class=\"wp-image-3846 size-portfolio\" src=\"http:\/\/mikeyoungacademy.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Oresund2-495x400.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"495\" height=\"400\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3846\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This index covers the wider research hub of Copenhagen (including Roskilde, Lyngby) and the Swedish side of the \u00d8resund (Lund, Malm\u00f6)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>My plan was originally to tweak the algorithm this year to include measures of &#8216;engagement&#8217; or activity on the two platforms. But these adjustments are not ready yet, so I am releasing two 2020 rankings (Greater Copenhagen and Denmark) with the exact same methodology as the 2019 index. As a positive side effect, this enables comparison with the <a href=\"http:\/\/mikeyoungacademy.dk\/copenhagen-scientists-top-50-most-followed-on-social-media\/\">2019 tables<\/a>, so scientists can see whether they are trending up, or down! The platforms extend their reach, let them discuss research with international peers, and serve as a catalyst for inspiration in the research process. Scientists and researchers are often supported in this by university institutions as they each strive to improve their own brand among stakeholders, other scientists and institutions, and the wider public. Social media like Twitter and LinkedIn are the platforms of choice for researchers and scientists, as they, unlike other platforms, let them focus their professional, academic interactions with niche audiences in highly specialized fields throughout the world. The TwiLi Index ranking is calculated using an algorithm based on the raw numbers of Twitter followers and LinkedIn followers (note, not connections, but followers!).<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>To those who already have followers, more shall be given\u2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If you are a part of the Copenhagen science and research community, the ranking offers the added bonus that it shows you who to follow, just because, apparently, everyone else is!
